M. S. I Sharif, Bholahat (Chapainawabganj) Correspondent:
The ending of some stories is truly heartbreaking. After a long wait, the family has been found, but the man is no longer alive. Although the tears of the relatives dried up while searching for a young man who had been missing for 15-16 years, he was finally found in Bholahatâbut not alive, but as a frozen body.
A few days ago, a helpless person was wandering around in a mentally unbalanced state in Bholahat, Chapainawabganj. Although he tried to introduce himself to the locals, his speech was very incoherent. As a result, it was not possible to confirm his real identity.
However, a few young men from Bireshwarpur Islamic Media in Bholahat set a unique example of humanity. They cut the hair and beard of the helpless man, bathed him, cleaned him, and dressed him in new clothes. At that time, he also gave some information about himself.
Although the words were random, later that vague information became one of the most important clues to identifying him.
Sadly, the man died in Bholahat on the night of August 23, 2026. No immediate confirmation was available about the real cause of his death. The police are investigating the matter. Later, his body was kept in the cold storage of Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital with the help of Bholahat Police Station.
Then a humanitarian search began to find his identity and family. Journalists from Bholahat, Bholahat Police Station Police, various volunteer teams, local activists, and a CID team from Chapainawabganj, along with concerned parties, made various efforts throughout the day to identify him.
In addition to posting on social media, his photo and information were spread on Facebook groups in various districts including Tangail. About 8 to 10 police stations were contacted. Although possible sources were checked one after another, the family could not be found.
Finally, the long wait ended on Monday (August 24, 2026) at around 12 midnight. The identity of the unknown person was identified through his sister Nasreen of Madhupur.
He is Md. Babul Hossain (35). Father is deceased Monsher Ali, mother Hadija Begum. His home is Uttar Gangai (Kashinathpara), Alokdia Union, Madhupur Police Station, Tangail District.
Babul Hossain's cousin Mizanur Rahman said that Babul had been suffering from mental problems for a long time. He went missing about 15-16 years ago.
After that, family members searched for him in different places for years. But he could not be found.
During this long period, Babul's father passed away. Other family members were also waiting for the return of their beloved man. When Babul was finally found, his lifeless body was lying in front of his relatives.
On the one hand, the end of a 15-16 year wait, and on the other hand, instead of getting their loved ones back alive, receiving a frozen bodyâwhat could be a more cruel reality for a family?
The humanitarian initiative of the members of Bireshwarpur Islamic Media in Bholahat has also become particularly important in identifying Babul.
The information Babul gave about himself while getting his hair and beard cut, bathing, and wearing new clothes seemed incoherent at the time, but later that information was useful as an important source in finding his family.
Today, Tuesday (August 25, 2026) at around 12 noon, Babul Hossain's body was handed over to his family members from Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital. Babul returned to his family after a long 15-16 yearsâbut not with the pulse of life, but as a frozen body for the last time.
The locals have expressed their gratitude to the Bholahat Police Station, the Journalist Society, members of Bireshwarpur Islamic Media, the volunteer team, the CID team and all those concerned for their humanitarian assistance in this incident.
We pray for the eternal peace of the late Babul Hossain. May Allah Almighty forgive all the mistakes and shortcomings of his life and grant him Jannatul Firdous and grant his family the fortitude to bear this deep grief of losing their loved one after a long time.
