Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin said that the Election Commission is working with all-out preparations to organize a free, fair and acceptable national election. “To organize a good election, the cooperation of everyone besides the Election Commission is needed – political parties, candidates, law enforcement agencies, media and voters. A successful election is not possible without the combined participation of political parties, candidates, law enforcement agencies, media and voters.”
He made these remarks at a day-long dialogue held with representatives of domestic observation organizations at the Agargaon Election Building in the capital on Sunday. Representatives of various observation organizations from all over the country participated in the dialogue and gave various opinions and suggestions on making the election transparent, participatory and accountable.
In his speech, the CEC also said, “We want every voter to be able to safely go to the polling station and freely vote for the candidate of his choice. For this, everything from law enforcement agencies to the field administration is working in a coordinated manner.”
He said that the role of election observers is very important in ensuring the transparency and acceptability of the election. For this, the Election Commission will provide all kinds of assistance to the observers.
Participants in the dialogue made recommendations on various issues including transportation of ballot boxes, security of polling stations, expansion of voter education, and transparent use of technology. The CEC described these proposals as “constructive and timely.”
CEC AMM Nasir Uddin said, “We want to present a beautiful and acceptable election to the nation. And everyone’s cooperation is the last word in this.”
