A driver named Rashed Mia (30) tragically died after a covered van lost control and hit a banyan tree on the side of the road in Kalihati, Tangail. The accident occurred on Monday (October 27) afternoon on the west side of Kalihati police station.
According to local sources, a large covered van suddenly lost control and hit a huge banyan tree on the side of the road. The driver, Rashed Mia, was seriously injured. Locals quickly rescued him and took him to Kalihati Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
The deceased Rashed Mia is the son of Motaher Hossain of Nauapara village of Saidpur police station in Nilphamari district.
Kalihati Highway Police Outpost SI Mahbub Hossain said that a cement-laden covered van lost control and hit a tree next to the police station, killing the driver on the spot. The body has been recovered and sent to Tangail Sadar Hospital morgue.
Traffic on the road was disrupted for some time after the accident. Police have recovered the covered van that was involved in the accident.
