Khulna Correspondent:
A trivial incident created tension between the Muhtamim and the president of the Madhyadanga Darul Uloom Hafiziya Madrasa and the local residents during a meeting in front of the village's three annual Waz Mahfils in the village of Daulatpur Madhyadanga village in Ward No. 3 of the city.
According to the incident source, although multiple Waz Mahfils are organized in that area every year, a meeting of the Madrasa Committee was held with the villagers to decide whether to hold one Mahfil together instead of three Mahfils in a row.
During the meeting, the committee president, Alhaj Daud Haider, informed the villagers about the decision to hold one Mahfil together based on the opinions of all the villagers. At this time, the Muhtamim of the Madrasa, Mufti Mahmudul Hasan, left the meeting at one point due to disagreement.
Later, the next morning, the committee members and the locals locked an office room of the madrasa. However, the committee and the villagers unlocked the office room of the madrasa in the evening on the same day.
In this regard, the general secretary of the madrasa, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, said that in a previously announced meeting, Muhtamim Mufti Mahmudul Hasan, addressing the founder and president of the madrasa, Alhaj Daud Haider, said that everyone should learn from him. At one point during the discussion, Mufti Mahmudul Hasan left the meeting. He also said that the incident did not affect the educational activities of the madrasa. All activities, including the donation of textbooks, are going on normally. However, he does not want any unpleasant incident to happen regarding this issue. He wants a peaceful solution based on everyone's opinions.
Meanwhile, allegations have been made in this incident that a vested interest group is colluding to distort the incident and spread propaganda. However, the villagers have clearly stated that Alhaj Dawood Haider is a charitable and humanitarian person. He has established several mosques, madrasas and schools in the area with his own funds. Not only that, he has personally paid about 11 lakh taka to pay the outstanding electricity bills and other debts of the institutions he established at different times, which he has not claimed to get back till date.
According to the villagers, someone who has done so much for the area can never conspire against the madrasa or society. Rather, a group is trying to tarnish the reputation of a charitable person like Dawood Haider.
In this regard, when they went to meet Muhtamim Masudur Rahman at the Madhyadanga Darul Ulum Hafiziya Madrasa and did not find him, the teachers of the madrasa said that the madrasa lock committee itself had opened it and the educational activities are currently going on normally.
