Gafargaon (Mymensingh) Representative:
An inter-departmental review and public meeting was held on the overall development plan of Gafargaon Upazila of Mymensingh. In this meeting held at the Upazila Parishad auditorium on Friday (31 October 2025) morning, detailed discussions were held on the sustainable development of Gafargaon, infrastructure development and formulation of integrated action plans of various departments.
It was informed in the meeting that a detailed master plan will be formulated very soon for the overall development of Gafargaon Upazila. Under this plan, department-wise action plans will be prepared and implemented.
The meeting held under the chairmanship of Gafargaon Upazila Executive Officer N. M. Abdullah Al Mamun was the chief guest and M. A. Akmal Hossain Azad, Member (Senior Secretary), Physical Infrastructure Division, Bangladesh Planning Commission was the chief guest.
Haider Ali, Joint Head; Deboom Sanyal, Deputy Head; Priyanka Dutta, Deputy Head—Physical Infrastructure Division, Bangladesh Planning Commission. Also present were Additional Chief Engineer (SOW), Executive Engineer (PWD, SOW, LGED, PDB, POBIS and Public Health), Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner (Land), OCs of Gafargaon and Pagla Police Stations, Upazila Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries Officer, Family Planning Officer, Railway Station Master, Union Parishad Administrators and other officials of Upazila Parishad.
The speakers at the meeting said, “Development is a continuous process, where only the combined efforts of government departments, public representatives and the common people can make Gafargaon a modern and planned Upazila.” At the end of the meeting, the initial outline of the future development plan of Gafargaon was presented and the hope for its speedy implementation was expressed.
