Police have recovered the body of a Russian national working at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project in Ishwardi. The body was recovered from a rented house in the city's Jigatola area around 8 pm on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Karpov Krill (26). He was working as an electrician at the Rooppur Power Project contractor, ESKM Company.
Afzal Hossain, in-charge of Ishwardi Ambagan Police Outpost, said that Karpov Krill lived alone in a flat on the fifth floor of the house of doctor Anwar Hossain in the Jigatola area. On Saturday night, family members tried repeatedly to contact him on his mobile phone from Russia but failed. Later, they informed the company's security officer.
The security officer, accompanied by interpreter Anwarul Islam and another Russian national living in the next flat, broke down the door of the flat and entered inside. Krill was seen lying face down on the bed. Later, Russian doctor Mikhail came and declared him dead.
Ishwardi Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Pranab Kumar Sarkar said, "Initially, it is believed that the Russian national may have died of a brain stroke. He had been treated at a private hospital in Dhaka a few days ago."
