BGB 59 Mahananda Battalion arrests 1 with drugs in two separate operations

A special team of Sonamasjid BOP by Chapainawabganj Mahananda Battalion (59 BGB) has arrested 1 person with a large quantity of drugs in 2 separate operations. Currently, as per the instructions of the BGB Director General and higher authorities at all levels, every BGB member is vigilant and active to prevent drug smuggling across the border.

In continuation of this, today, 05 November 2025, at approximately 1:00 am, a special patrol team of Sonamasjid BOP under this battalion conducted an operation in Muslimpur village of Shahabajpur Union under Shibganj Police Station of Chapainawabganj district, approximately two km inside Bangladesh from Border Pillar 184/4-S. In the said operation, the patrol team was able to seize 25 bottles of Indian Phencidyl without an owner.

In another operation, on November 5, 2025, at approximately 6:00 PM, a special patrol team from the same BOP conducted an operation on the paved road, approximately four kilometers inside Bangladesh from the border pillar 184/4-S, one hundred yards west of the government primary school in Lahapur village of Mobarakpur union under Shibganj police station of Chapainawabganj district. In the said operation, the patrol team arrested a smuggler. The arrested accused is Md. Rubel Hossain (39), son of the deceased Gaus Uddin of Chardaulatpur village of Shibganj upazila.

The BGB was able to seize 107 pieces of Indian Yaba and 01 motorcycle (HERO HF- DELUXE 100 CC) seized from the accused. On the other hand, the seized Phencidyl has already been deposited with Shibganj police station after filing a GD and the process of transferring the accused to Shibganj police station after filing a case with Yaba is underway.

In this regard, the commander of Mahananda Battalion (59 BGB), Lt. Col. Golam Kibria, BGBM, BGOM, confirmed the truth of the matter.
