Assistant teachers of the government primary school in Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur are returning to their workplaces and taking the third quarterly evaluation exam under the direction of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education. Considering the needs of the students, the assistant teachers returned to the educational institution on Sunday morning and started all the school activities related to taking the exam.
When visiting Baligaon Model Government Primary School, it was seen that the assistant teachers are taking the students’ exams. They are giving marks by looking at the evaluation books that have been completed. All the teachers are continuing their teaching work properly. After inquiry, it was found that the assistant teachers of all the government primary schools in the upazila are joining their work and carrying out the activities of the educational institution.
Reshma Begum, the acting head teacher of Baligaon Model Government Primary School, said, the third quarterly evaluation exam is being conducted in our school. The assistant teachers are taking the exam and looking at the evaluation books.
On December 3, Abdullah Shibli Sadiq, Senior Information Officer of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, issued a press release signed by him.
Assistant teachers of government primary schools were instructed to withdraw the strike and examination boycott programs of some organizations and join work. Teachers were asked to join work immediately and complete all school activities related to the third quarter examination of students properly. Otherwise, action will be taken against teachers involved in such anti-disciplinary activities as per the service law, code of conduct and criminal law.
After issuing this press release, the Primary Teachers’ Demand Implementation Council and the Bangladesh Primary Assistant Teachers’ Organization Oikya Parishad informed all teachers through a press release on December 4. Considering our morality, humanity and the tender minds of our children, the complete shutdown or lockdown program has been suspended in all government primary schools across the country from Sunday until the examination is completed. The third quarter evaluation exams of all classes will be taken from Sunday.
It is learned that primary head teachers have currently been promoted to the 10th grade. However, assistant teachers are receiving salaries and allowances at the 13th grade. They are unhappy with this. They have been agitating for a long time demanding grade upgrade.
