Madhabpur (Brahmanbaria) Correspondent:
Serious financial and administrative irregularities have been alleged against Superintendent Zahirul Islam of Khandura Islamia Dakhil Madrasa, a MPO-affiliated school in Nasirnagar Upazila of Brahmanbaria. The teachers and employees of the institution submitted a written complaint to the Upazila Executive Officer on August 27.
The complaint states that no repair or development work has been done under the budget of the madrasa for three consecutive years. The accounts of huge amounts of money from various funds of the institution are also not available. The complainants claim that Superintendent Zahirul Islam is taking major decisions of the institution without any legal meeting using the name of the expired managing committee. They have even raised allegations of embezzlement of money through signature forgery.

The teachers allege that the superintendent is using the money from various sectors of the madrasa alone and is not giving transparent accounts in any way. There are allegations of irregularities in various financial transactions including admission money, field renovation, and purchase of sports equipment. The complainants also mentioned indecent behavior, mental torture, and abusive language towards teachers.
In addition, the teachers and employees have also alleged financial transactions in the teacher transfer and recruitment process. They also claim that a large sum of money has been taken from the newly recruited students. Although additional money was taken from the students admitted in the current academic year, it was not shown in the official records.

The teachers said that due to these irregularities, the normal educational environment of the madrasa is being disrupted; unrest has been created among the teachers and students. They demanded a prompt investigation and appropriate action against the superintendent. The complainants also said that the superintendent is using the influence of local Awami League leaders to intimidate them.
Accused superintendent Zahirul Islam denied the allegations and said, “There is a conspiracy against me. There is no evidence for the allegations. If anyone has any complaints, I will resolve them.”
Upazila Secondary Education Officer Jiban Bhattacharya said, “Our jurisdiction is limited as the madrasa is under MPO. However, we will look into the matter.”
In this regard, Nasirnagar UNO Shahina Nasrin said, “The teachers once tried to reach a compromise among themselves. The serious complaints will be verified and necessary action will be taken after discussing with the education officer.”
