A young man named Moktar Hossain (22) was hacked to death by miscreants over a love dispute in Katalkandi village of Chatalpar union of Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria. The family of the deceased claims that it was a pre-planned murder.
The murder took place in front of Maju Mia’s shop in Katalkandi village of Chatalpar union of the upazila on Thursday (November 27) afternoon. Later, with the help of locals, Moktar Hossain was taken to Nasirnagar Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared him dead. The deceased Moktar Hossain is the son of Islam Uddin of Katalkandi village of Chatalpar union of Nasirnagar upazila.
According to police and local sources, Moktar Hossain had a two-year love affair with Rabbani’s daughter Shiuli Akhter of Kachua area of Chatalpar union of the upazila. When the two families came to know about this, the boy’s family sent a marriage proposal to the girl’s house, but the girl’s family rejected it and instead filed a case in the court in the boy’s name. A week ago, a verdict was given in the case through a village arbitration that they would withdraw the case, but today afternoon, the family alleged that six people, including the girl’s elder brother, were taken out of the car and hacked to death.
The boy’s father Islam Uddin said, “I want the highest exemplary trial for the murder of my son, I want the hanging of my son’s killers.”
Confirming the murder, Nasirnagar Police Inspector Investigation Suhel Sikder said that preparations are underway to send the body to the Brahmanbaria district morgue for autopsy.
