Police have arrested five warranted accused and three accused in regular cases under the Narcotics Control Act in separate raids in Parbatipur, Dinajpur.
Later, the eight arrested people were sent to Dinajpur District Jail. According to police sources, five people were arrested in raids to arrest the accused with court warrants in various cases.
The arrested are – Asia Begum (40), husband Md. Zahir Hossain, Palashbari Mandpara; Mohibul Islam (43), father Abdul Hakim, Bara Kanchana, Parbatipur; Zakir Hossain (38), father of the late Gani Mia, Palashbari Mandpara; Gof Samad Ali (45), father Shahid, Power House Colony of the municipal town and Saidul Haque (34), father of the late Abdur Rashid, Kalikapur Chhota Kanchana.
Meanwhile, three more people were arrested in regular drug-related cases. They are Abdus Salam (18), father Md. Azizul Haque, of Chouhati village, Hamidpur union no. 9; Asraful Islam (34), father deceased Ismail Hossain, of Chouhati village, Hamidpur union no. 9; and Manjurul Islam (40), father deceased Fazlur Rahman, of Madhya Mornai village, Habra union.
Police said that there are court warrants and regular drug-related cases against the arrested. After the legal process, they have been sent to Dinajpur district jail. Police of Parbatipur Model Police Station said that such drives will continue to maintain law and order and curb various crimes including drugs.
