The District Detective Branch (DB) has arrested Md. Insan Ali (41) and his associate Md. Shakib Molla (20) on charges of being involved in the notorious drug and arms trade under the guise of a tire business in the Charmatha Bhaber Bazar Truck Terminal area of Bogra suburb.
They were arrested in a special operation led by DB Police SI Quddus at around 10 pm on Thursday (yesterday). The arrested were sent to jail through the court on Friday afternoon.
According to local and police sources, Insan Ali was known as a tire trader in the Charmatha area, but behind the scenes he ran a large drug and arms syndicate. It is known that there are multiple cases against him.
Meanwhile, the news of the arrest of this long-time drug dealer in the area adjacent to Meherab Pump in Ward No. 16 created a sensation among the locals.
DB Police said the operation against drugs and illegal weapons will continue. Investigations are underway to identify other accomplices involved in the incident.
