Parents’ meeting held at Karpasdanga Degree College to improve quality of education and increase attendance

A detailed parents’ rally was held today (December 8, 2025) at Karpasdanga Degree College in Damurhuda Upazila of Chuadanga district to ensure regular attendance of students in classes, increase participation in examinations, achieve good results and improve the overall quality of education.

Teachers, parents and students participated spontaneously in this rally organized at 11 am on the college grounds. The main objective of the rally was to strengthen coordination between parents and college authorities.

In particular, the authorities expressed concern over the recent trend of absenteeism and reluctance to participate in final examinations among students.

The speakers said that teachers or college authorities alone cannot maintain the quality of education; for this, the active role of parents is essential.

The principal of the college, in his speech, presented a data-based report on the results of the last academic year and the attendance of current students. The report shows that the results of students who regularly attend classes are about 20% better on average than those of absent students.

The gathering was attended by prominent social worker Mr. Md. Rafiqul Hasan Tonu as the chief guest.

In his speech, he said, “Parents are the first and the head teacher in building the future of students. The college authorities are very sincere, but it is the moral responsibility of the parents to inquire about what their children are doing at home, why they are absent from class. Education is not only about money, it is also about time.”

He further said that there is no alternative to education in building a developed nation and he will continue to provide all kinds of administrative and financial support to make Karpasdanga Degree College a model educational institution.

The chair of the program was graced by the Governing Body, Karpasdanga Degree College and General Secretary, Damurhuda Upazila BNP Md. Rafiqul Hasan Tonu. In his speech, he highlighted the various initiatives taken by the college governing body to improve the quality of education.

He firmly declared that,
“The college authorities will have to be strict about students who do not attend classes regularly and do not follow the instructions of the teacher. But at the same time, the facilities will be increased for the poor and talented students. We want our students to not only achieve good results, but also develop as good citizens.”

In his closing speech, Md. Hamidul Islam, Principal of Karpasdanga Degree College, thanked the parents and students.

He announced that from now on, the progress reports of the students will be sent to the concerned parents on a monthly basis to control the absenteeism rate.

In their speeches, the teachers assured the parents that they would make their utmost efforts so that there is no deficiency in teaching. Parents and students also realized the importance of such gatherings and pledged to work more closely with the college authorities in the future.

This parent gathering opened a new horizon in improving the educational environment of Karpasdanga Degree College. Everyone expressed hope that the combined efforts of all those present at the meeting will increase the attendance rate of students and that the college’s results in the board exams in the near future will be more as expected.

All the teachers of Karpasdanga Degree College and the concerned parents and students played an active role in the successful organization of the program.
