Today, Friday, December 12, 2025, at 04:00 PM, a tragic road accident occurred when the brakes of a high-speed power tiller failed at the Batkemari intersection on the main road of Kanaidanga village in Karpasdanga union of Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga district.
A total of 4 people were injured in the incident, according to local sources. At around 04:00 local time, a power tiller coming from Mujibnagar at a high speed lost control. The driver of the power tiller was Sakib Hossain, a resident of Taranagar, Anandabas area of Mujibnagar.
Driver Sakib Hossain said that when approaching the Batkemari intersection, the brakes of the power tiller became useless and he could not control its speed in any way. The uncontrolled power tiller entered a tea shop located next to the main road of Kanaidanga village. A few local people were sitting in the shop and drinking tea.
In this sudden accident, Zafar Ali and Hanif Ali, who were sitting in a tea shop, were seriously injured. In addition, the power tiller driver Shakib Hossain and the power tiller’s assistant also suffered minor injuries. The injured Zafar Ali and Hanif Ali were quickly rescued and taken to the Damurhuda Upazila Health Complex with the help of local people and others. The doctor on duty provided them with primary treatment there.
Fortunately, since the injuries of the two were not serious, they returned home after receiving primary treatment. The other injured were also given necessary treatment. Immediately after the accident, local dignitaries and people from both sides arrived at the scene. Through discussions, it was decided to resolve the incident through compromise. It is learned that the owner and driver of the power tiller have agreed to pay the medical expenses and other compensation for the injured.
As a compromise was reached between the two, no further legal complaint has been filed with the police station in this regard. The matter has been resolved peacefully among themselves. Locals say that the Batkemari intersection is often a victim of road accidents. The accident has created a lot of anxiety among the locals.
Elders of the area said, “This intersection is very risky. Accidents often happen here. People must drive carefully.” The locals have strongly demanded that the local administration and road authorities strengthen strict safety measures.
Their main demand is that speed breakers be installed at this intersection to control speed, so that fast-moving vehicles are forced to slow down and such tragic road accidents can be prevented in the future.
