BGB has arrested 5 Indian buffaloes along with 4 smugglers at the Dhamirhat border in Naogaon. On 04 January at 0800 hrs, a special patrol team led by BOP Patrol Commander Naik Md. Ershad Ali conducted a raid in Biharinagar area of Dhamirhat Police Station under Naogaon District, approximately 05 km from Border Pillar 263/4-S, inside Bangladesh and arrested 05 Indian buffaloes, 01 engine-powered van, 04 mobile phones and 04 smugglers (a) Md. Rashedul Islam (26), father-Md. Khairul Islam, (b) Md. Zahurul Islam (40), father-Md. Meher Ali, village-Jotmahmudpur (c) Md. Humayun Kabir (38), father-deceased Gias Uddin, (d) Md. Tariqul Islam (35), father-Md. Bellal Hossain, village-Shahpur, all of them from Dhamirhat Police Station and Naogaon District. A case has been filed against the arrested smugglers along with the cattle and the process of handing them over to the Dhamairhat Police Station is in progress. Total value of the seized goods is Tk. 19,23,400.
Commander, Patnitala Battalion Lt. Col. Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, PSC, has pledged to continue the all-out campaign against cattle/drug smuggling/illegal border crossing and smuggling at the Naogaon and Joypurhat borders.
